Mickleham Road Upgrade Set For Early Completion

26 July, 2024

Greenvale motorists will enjoy reduced congestion, improved travel times and more reliable journeys as early as January 2025, with the Allan Labor Government set to complete major works on Stage 1 of the Mickleham Road Upgrade a full 6 months ahead of schedule.

The upgrade, originally slated to be completed in mid-2025, will see extra lanes in each direction between Somerton Road and Dellamore Boulevard, new traffic lights at Aitken College, upgraded intersections at Hillview Road and Dellamore Boulevard, and a new intersection at Somerton Road.

Crews on the project have gained major ground in the first half of 2024, upgrading intersections at Greenvale Gardens Boulevard and Aitken College, moving traffic onto new northbound lanes between Somerton Road and Dellamore Boulevard and starting construction of the new southbound lanes on Mickleham Road.

Works on the project will now shift towards finishing construction of the southbound lanes, upgrading intersections at Dellamore Boulevard and Hillview Road and finalising works on the new traffic light intersection at Somerton Road.

Finishing works, including landscaping, will get underway after major works are completed and new lanes are opened in traffic.

Motorists won’t be the only ones to benefit from the Mickleham Road Upgrade, with 4km of new shared walking and cycling paths being built as part of the upgrade.

Stage 1 of the Mickleham Road Upgrade will significantly improve the way motorists get around in Melbourne’s northern suburbs each day by reducing travel times, and by improving safety and reliability.

These improvements will make it easier and safer to walk and cycle in the area and provide more reliable journeys for over 25,000 motorists who use the road each day.
